Bulgaria introduces plan for prevention of school violence

Xinhua, April 10, 2017 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian caretaker Minister of Education and Science Nikolai Denkov announced on Monday an inter-institutional plan for the prevention of aggression and enhancing security in schools.

The plan consisted of 22 measures such as developing practical guidelines for action in case of an accident, violence or other critical situation, Denkov said at a press conference.

Meanwhile, teachers would undergo trainings on rendering first medical aid, as well as on working with children who have emotional and behavioral problems.

Moreover, by the end of 2018, every child regardless of the size of the school would get access to a psychologist or pedagogical adviser, Denkov said.

During the 2015-2016 school year, the ministry registered 7,017 incidents such as physical aggression, verbal aggression and harassment, while in 2014-2015 and 2013-2014 the figures stood at 6,896 and 3,268. Endit
