Indian TV anchor learns of husband's death on air but carries on broadcasting

Xinhua, April 10, 2017 Adjust font size:

A television anchor in India found out the death of her husband in a car crash while she was in live TV reporting on the accident. But she continued her broadcasting till the end of the reporting, according to the Guardian.

The news anchor, Supreet Kaur, with channel IBC-24 in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh was told the information during a phone-in from a reporter about the details of a fatal car accident on Saturday morning in the state.

According to Kaur's colleagues, she realized that her husband was in the same vehicle in the accident at that moment, but she continued anchoring for another 10 minutes.

"The moment the cameras were off, she began calling her relatives and broke down. She left for the accident site after that," an editor at the TV station told local media.

The editor commented that Kaur's sense of duty and professionalism made her keep calm and carry on the newscast. Endi
