Kimutai claims victory in Rotterdam Marathon

Kenyan athlete Marius Kimutai won the 37th edition of the Rotterdam Marathon on Sunday, beating his compatriots Lawrence Cherono and Laban Korir.

Kimutai accelerated from Cherono and Korir after 40 kilometers. With a time of two hours, six minutes and four seconds, he came in alone on the Coolsingel street finish. Cherono (2:06:21) finished second and Korir (2:06:25) completed the Kenyan podium.

Meskerem Assefa from Ethiopia won the women's race. She pulled away from Eunice Chumba from Kenya in the final kilometer and ran a personal best of 2:24:18. Chumba came in 9 seconds later and Kenyan Lucy Karimi (2:25:17) finished third. Endit
