Acting governor appointed in Chinese island province of Hainan

Shen Xiaoming was appointed acting governor of China's island province of Hainan on Friday.

The appointment was announced at a meeting of the provincial people's congress standing committee.

The committee also accepted the resignation of governor Liu Cigui at the meeting Friday.

Shen, 53, is a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province.

He served as vice mayor of Shanghai and vice education minister before he was transferred to Hainan as deputy Party head of the province in March 2017. Endi
