The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.
--The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has warned that the prevalence of early pregnancies in Zambia has reached crisis proportions.
UNFPA Representative Mary Otieno said an analysis done by the organization has indicated that if the present trend was to continue, 453,000 girls born between 2005 and 2010 would be married or in union before the age of 18 by the year 2030. (Times of Zambia)
--Zambian President Edgar Lungu has called for the setting up of an inter-ministerial council to coordinate and facilitate trade investment into the country.
Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Margaret Mwanakatwe said the Zambian leader attaches importance to increased trade and investment in the country hence his decision to call for the establishment of the council. (Zambia Daily Mail)
--Authorities in northwestern Zambia say they have managed to contain typhoid which ravaged some parts of the province in the past few months.
Provincial Health Director Andrew Silumesi said his office has not recorded any new cases since March 13 of the water borne disease. (Daily Nation)
--Corruption watch group, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ), has called for sanity in land administration in the country.
