Portuguese court absolves three defenders accused of infringing safety norms

Xinhua, April 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

The court of Aveiro in northern Portugal absolved on Thursday the administrator of an iron supplier, a contractor and a developer who were being tried over a mortal accident.

The accident took place on January 3, 2012, killing a motorist who was manually unloading iron material for a civil construction project.

During the operation, the worker fell off the truck's trailer and ended up buried under rods of iron and dying, according to local media.

The three defendants had been charged with infringing safety norms.

However the presiding judge said that unlawful conducts had not been proved, and that it had not been able to confirm whether the accident had been due to a lack of compliance with safety rules or a lack of professional training. Endit
