A French magistrate will lead a deeper investigation into the killing of a Chinese national by police in Paris last month, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Investigative magistrates will look into the death of Liu Shaoyao, a Chinese national at his Paris home on March 26, the report said.
A judicial probe was opened for "voluntary violence which lead to the death without intention to give it, by a person having a public authority," it added.
On March 26, a police officer shot dead the Chinese father of five children at his home in Paris after a neighbor called the police to report a domestic dispute.
According to French media, the policeman opened fire against "an assailant with scissors," who "attacked" and "injured" the officer.
Local Chinese reports, quoting a daughter of the man, said the 160-cm-tall man did not attack the policeman at all.
French Interior Minister Matthias Fekl stressed that "investigations will continue under the authority of the Justice and will establish the facts."
The killing of the Chinese national sparked outrage among the ethnic Chinese community and protests. Endit
