Demonstrators protest deportation of Afghan asylum seekers in Helsinki

Xinhua, April 4, 2017 Adjust font size:

Hundreds of protesters assembled downtown here on Tuesday afternoon to protest the forced return of Afghan asylum seekers, local media reported.

The protest was the continuation of a demonstration held on Monday night at Helsinki Airport to oppose the latest flight, which was transporting 10 rejected Afghan asylum seekers from Helsinki to the Afghan capital of Kabul.

It was the third flight taking rejected asylum seekers out of Finland this year, said Finnish national broadcaster Yle.

Police said the number of protesters amounted to about 600, of which 100 protestors gathered in front of the Interior Ministry. Endit
