Chinese president extends condolences to Putin over subway attack

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday sent a message of condolences to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over the subway bomb blast in St. Petersburg.

On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, and in his own name, Xi extended his profound condolences to the deceased and sincere sympathies to the injured and families of the victims.

China strongly condemns the outrageous terrorist act, Xi said, and that the Chinese people stand firmly with the Russian people at this difficult moment.

China firmly opposes terrorism in all forms and stands ready to combat terrorism with Russia and the international community to maintain world and regional peace and security, the Chinese president said.

At least 11 people were killed, dozens of others injured in the metro attack Monday afternoon in St. Petersburg, the second largest city of Russia. Endi
