Tokyo stocks open lower on investor selling following deadly attack in Russia

Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors were in a risk off mood following a deadly blast in a subway system in St. Petersburg thought by Russian officials to have been a terrorist attack.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 111.82 points, or 0.59 percent, from Monday to 18,871.41.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 9.39 points, or 0.62 percent, to 1,507.64.
Early issues that notably retreated into negative territory from the morning bell, comprised marine transportation, insurance, and iron and steel-linked stocks. Enditem
