Xinhua, March 31, 2017 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday as the market mood was lifted by a strong performance on Wall Street overnight, with a comparatively weak yen against the U.S. dollar also adding support and lifting exporter-linked shares.

As of 9:15 a.m, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 103.33 points, or 0.54 percent, from Thursday to 19,166.55.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 9.88 points, or 0.65 percent, to 1,537.47.

Issues that advanced notably at the start of play comprised insurance, bank and rubber product-linked stocks. Endit
