Belarus' refinancing rate down by 1 percent

Xinhua, March 30, 2017 Adjust font size:

The refinancing rate in Belarus will be reduced from 15 percent to 14 percent starting from April 19, the country's central bank said on Thursday in a statement.

The central bank decided to reduce the refinancing rate due to a slowdown in inflation and the positive trends on currency and deposit markets.

On April 19, the interest rates on standing and bilateral transactions designed to maintain the current liquidity of banks will be reduced from 18 percent to 17 percent per annum, as well as the rates on standing liquidity withdrawal transactions from 10 percent to 9 percent per annum.

In 2017, the refinancing rate was declined in January, February and March, each time by 1 percent.

The central bank does not exclude that it can become even less with a positive situation in the country's economy. Endit
