Mass firearms manufacturing, sales gang busted in China

Xinhua, March 30, 2017 Adjust font size:

Police in east China's Zhejiang Province have dismantled three firearms workshops, arrested 16 suspects and seized nearly three tonnes of guns and ammunition after a six-month investigation.

According to the public security bureau of Yuyao City, several parcels containing gun parts including a gunstock, a barrel and 1,500 bullets led to an investigation that started in October 2016. The male recipient confessed that the parts he bought online could be assembled into a dangerous weapon

While the seller was found to be operating under a false identity, the gun barrel, bullets and gunstock were traced to Chongqing Municipality, Jiangxi Province and Guangzhou City. Three teams were dispatched to investigate.

In December, a 23-year-old college student was identified as the administrator of the online shop. As of early March, more people were arrested for producing or selling gun parts and bullets in central, eastern and southwestern cities across China with over 15,000 gun parts seized.

The suspects are awaiting trial. Endi
