Sweden expects to see orderly, result-oriented Brexit negotiations: PM

Xinhua, March 29, 2017 Adjust font size:

After the triggering of the Brexit process by British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said he would like to see "orderly and result-oriented negotiations."

"The United Kingdom has been a close and valuable cooperation partner in the EU... I welcome the constructive start in Prime Minister May's letter. I would like to see orderly and result-oriented negotiations and that we also, even after the withdrawal, will have as good and beneficial a relationship to the United Kingdom as possible. That is important for the United Kingdom, for the EU and for Sweden," Lofven said in a statement.

"For Sweden, the important priorities include reaching a good financial agreement -- in which the British fulfill their financial commitments -- and a solution for the EU citizens who have availed themselves of the right to live in the UK and vice versa. In the future relationship between the EU and the United Kingdom we want to see the best possible trade relations and a continued good cooperation in other areas, such as with security issues," Lofven said.
