White House on lockdown over suspicious package

Xinhua, March 28, 2017 Adjust font size:

The U.S. Secret Service placed the White House on lockdown Tuesday due to a suspicious package.

"@SecretService investigating suspicious package near @WhiteHouse grounds. Road closures in effect," the agency tweeted.

Roads to the White House were closed off and White House staff were blocked from entering the complex.

The lockdown came just several days after a woman was arrested on her third attempt to hop over the White House fence and a man spent around 15 minutes on the White House grounds in a night earlier this month. Endit
