Croatia sends army contingent to Afghanistan

Croatia on Friday sent its sixth contingent with 91 members of the armed forces to Afghanistan for implementing the Resolute Support Mission.

Croatian President and Supreme Commander Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said that her country would continue the participation in international peace missions and the Croatian contingent would contribute to peace and institution building in Afghanistan.

"We are all witnesses to the international environment changing, to threats becoming more complex. Today Croatia is indeed defending itself, also in Afghanistan," she said.

The Resolute Support Mission, which began in January 2015, is a continuation of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces, which Croatia has participated into since February 2003. Endit
