Kenyan rangers gun down two suspected poachers

Xinhua, March 3, 2017 Adjust font size:

Kenya's wildlife rangers on Friday killed two suspected poachers and recovered poaching equipment from them, officials said on Friday.

Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Corporate Communication Manager Paul Udoto said one AK47 rifle and 28 bullets were recovered after a fierce crossfire.

"A manhunt is currently underway after a shootout with the suspects in the Tsavo East National Park," Udoto said in a statement.

Udoto said, a KWS officer was injured and airlifted to hospital and is currently out of danger.

The East African nation has in the past two years stepped up its war against poachers who have been targeting elephants and rhinos. Endit
