Xinhua, March 3, 2017 Adjust font size:

Serbian basketball champions Red Star defeated German Brose Bamberg 74-60 in 24th round of the Euroleague on Thursday at Belgrade's Aleksandar Nikolic hall.

Charles Jenkins scored 18 points while Marko Simonovic adding 13, Marko Guduric 12 for Red Star.

The German team struggled to catch up with an initial lead of Red Star, while Fabien Causeur's 21 points were not enough to save the game.

Coach of Red Star Dejan Radonjic said, "We played well both in attack and defense in the first 25 minutes, but a period came when we were not able to continue, so Bamberg used this to decrease the lead. Still we managed to achieve an important victory for us."

Coach of Brose Bamberg Andrea Trinchieri said, "We played very bad in the first half and Red Star intensive defense crashed our system. We recovered in the second half, made a big comeback and were one good attack away from a turnaround."

This is the 16th defeat for Bamberg in the Euroleague and an end of their chance to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Red Star are 6th in the standings with a 14-10 record with six more games to play in the regular part of the season. Endit
