British stocks close flat Thursday

British shares closed almost flat on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down marginally by 0.01 percent, or 0.55 points, to close at 7,382.35 points.

ConvaTec Group Plc, a multinational offering products and services in the areas of wound and skin care, topped the gainers of the blue chips by jumping 8.35 percent, after it reported an increase in sales last year.

GKN, automotive and aerospace components manufacturer, advanced 4.61 percent. British defense, security and aerospace firm BAE Systems gained 3.22 percent.

Capita Plc, London-based company offering business process outsourcing and professional services, plunged 9.12 percent, becoming the top loser of the blue chips.

Dixons Carphone, electrical and telecom retailer, lost 3.55 percent. Mining firm Anglo American shedded 2.52 percent. Endit
