PVV leader Wilders resumes public campaign after security scare

Geert Wilders will enter the streets again for his Dutch election campaign after a break of one week due to security fears, the leader of the right-wing populist Party for Freedom (PVV) stated on Wednesday.

One week ago, the PVV leader halted his public activities to allow for an investigation into corruption in his security team.

A member of the security team DBB, tasked with protecting the Royal Family and politicians under threat like Wilders, was arrested last week on suspicion of leaking secret information.

Two weeks before the general elections, latest polls on Wednesday showed a further decline for the PVV. The figures by Peilingwijzer, which combines six different polls into an average, showed that the VVD (Liberals) and the PVV with a predicted amount of 23-27 and 22-26 seats in the parliament respectively.

In a poll in late December, the anti-Islam party was by far the biggest party with a predicted 31-36 seats. Endit
