Palestinian shot dead after alleged stabbing attack: army

Xinhua, March 1, 2017 Adjust font size:

A Palestinian man was shot dead by an Israeli settler after he allegedly stabbed and lightly injured the latter in a West Bank settlement on Wednesday, the military said.

A military spokesperson said in a statement that the Palestinian, whose identity was not disclosed, "infiltrated" the settlement of Teneh Omarim, south of the Palestinian city of Dahuruya.

The suspect entered the house holding two knives, and stabbed a civilian. "The civilian fired towards the assailant," the statement read.

The incident was the latest in a spate of violence in the West Bank and Israel that has claimed the lives of at least 248 Palestinians, 40 Israelis, two U.S. nationals, a Jordanian tourist, and two Eritrean and Sudanese asylum seekers since September 2015. Endit
