Xinhua, March 1, 2017 Adjust font size:

Togo's heath authorities have confirmed two cases of Lassa fever in the northern Oti district.

"By the end of the week from 20 to 26 February, health district of Oti has notified two cases of Lassa fever with people coming from Burkina Faso and northern Benin," Health Minister Mustafa Mijiyawa said Tuesday in a press release.

The two patients are being treated at a hospital and "fortunately their health has significantly improved," said the minister.

"Lassa fever is curable. The earlier the patient is taken to hospital center, the better is his chance of healing," said Mijiyawa.

The health minister called on the people not to panic and strictly conform to precautionary and hygiene measures. Endit
