Pileup on highway in Japans Kumamoto Pref. leaves 1 dead, 6 injured

A pileup on the on the Kyushu Expressway in Kumamoto Prefecture on Tuesday, southwestern Japan, has left one man dead and six others injured, according to local media and police reports.

The pileup on the highway took place at around 7:30 a.m. on the expressway in the town of Mashiki.

Of the six who were injured in the crash, one of them was found unconscious, local reports said.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash which caused the truck to burst into flames, which were extinguished around an hour later by firefighters.

Some of the highway near the accident that joins with Kumamoto airport in the region had to be closed due to the pileup. Endit
