Afghanistan is not threat to any country: president

Xinhua, February 27, 2017 Adjust font size:

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said Monday that his country is independent and won't be used against any nation.

"Our country Afghanistan is an independent country, will remain independent forever and Afghanistan is not a threat to any country," Ghani said in his speech at a ceremony to mark the National Day of Security and Defense Forces, at Kabul Military airport.

Denouncing the ongoing militancy in the insurgency-plagued country as foreign intervention, the president said "those who wants to turn Afghanistan into a battle field, would take their vicious wishes to the grave."

Appreciating the courage of security forces for fighting militants and ensuring peace and security in the war-ravaged country, the president noted that the national security forces have foiled the malicious designs of the enemies.

The security forces, in their latest achievements against enemies on the battleground eliminated Taliban shadow government Mawlawi Salam in the northern Kunduz province very recently and the terrorists can't face the national security forces.

"We want to have a peaceful, prosperous and stable Afghanistan," Ghani asserted. Enditem
