Xinhua, February 27, 2017 Adjust font size:

Chinese police have arrested seven people following a hotel fire Saturday that killed 10 in Nanchang, capital of the eastern province of Jiangxi, local authorities said Monday.

The seven, including workers and contractors for an ongoing construction project that went ablaze, were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of negligence that caused the fire, the city government of Nanchang said in a press release.

The fire at HNA Platinum Mix Hotel in Nanchang City killed 10, including three hotel guests and seven construction workers, according to the city government.

Nine injured people are receiving hospital treatment.

A preliminary investigation found the blaze was caused by welding and cutting that violated safety rules. Endi
