Hungary's Babos wins Budapest WTA women's tennis

Top seed Timea Babos from Hungary won her third WTA trophy here on Sunday, beating Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-3.

Babos, 23, won her third WTA exactly five years after her first WTA victory in Monterrey, Mexico.

The 33rd-ranked Babos saw off Sarafova, ranked 47th, after a match lasted for over two hours.

The first two sets have been very close, before the Hungarian took the lead and presented a clearly superior game in the third, last set.

En route to the final, Lucie defeated Carina Witthoft 6-4, 6-3 and Babos scored a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Julia Gorges.

Earlier, Hsieh Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei and Oksana Kalashnikova of Georgia won the women's doubles, beating Arina Rodionova of Australia and Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan 6-3, 4-6, 10-4. Endit
