Burkina Faso kicks off cinema festival

The 25th Pan-African cinema and television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) kicks off in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, on Saturday.
Themed "cinema and audiovisual professions and training", the festival will see the screening of 20 films from different African countries.
Feature-length fiction films at Fespaco, among which three Burkina faso made films, are in competition for the Yennega Golden Stallion.
On Friday, a wholly solar-powered new projection room of 300 seats was inaugurated in the upscale quarters Ouaga 2000 as part of the festival.
"Ouagadougou, the capital of African cinema, is all the more satisfied as the masterpiece comes timely on the eve of the 25th edition of FESPACO", Tahirou Barry, minister of culture said.
"It is a new rising sun in the national cinematographic field with an increased availability and quality of cultural infrastructures in accordance with the priority program of the president of Burkina Faso", he explained.
During inauguration ceremony on Friday, President Roch Marc Christian Kabore said the "construction of the new screening room is timely as FESPACO should open while there was a lack of quality cinema rooms in Ouagadougou." Endit
