Arsonists burned bank in Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia

Xinhua, February 25, 2017 Adjust font size:

Anonymous arsonists burned in the early hours of Saturday a branch of Al Jazira bank in Qatif in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, Al Sharq local online news reported.

The security guard of the bank highlighted to the news portal that he sported the two arsonists fleeing the scene after torching the bank.

The police confirmed that the attack occurred on Saturday at 2:15 am local time (11:15 GMT), in which the fire damaged the ATM machine and the outside sides of the bank. The investigators found petroleum traces in the location.

Arsons, rioting and vandalism are common in Qatif and other areas in the Eastern Province by groups of youths who are part of the minority Shiite community that resides in the district and demand more rights in the conservative Sunni state. Endit
