Schalke's Naldo sidelined for rest of season

Xinhua, February 25, 2017 Adjust font size:

Defender Naldo will be out of action until the end of the Bundesliga campaign, Schalke announced via the club's official homepage on Friday.

Schalke wrapped up the UEFA Europa League's last 16 on Thursday but their Brazilian defender Naldo suffered a groin injury.

On Friday, a MRI scan revealed a partial tendon tear in the adductors. It is yet uncertain if the 34-year-old defender will have to undergo a surgery in the next days.

"Naldo has partially torn a tendon in the adductors and will be sidelined until the end of the season," Schalke head coach Markus Weinzierl said.

In addition to Naldo, Breel Embolo, Coke, Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Baba and Franco Di Santo have already suffered serious injuries this season.
