Malta records considerable decrease in unemployment

In January 2017, the number of people registering for work in Malta stood at almost half the number of those registering for work in January 2016, Maltese authorities confirmed on Thursday.

These figures have been hailed by the Maltese government as the lowest since unemployment records started in the 1960s.

Malta's National Statistics Office said that the number of people registering for work in January 2017 stood at 2,889, compared to 4,710 in the corresponding month last year.

Decreases were recorded in all age groups in Malta's unemployment register. Endit
