The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday released detailed policies on crack downs of illegal immigrants, which included bolstering border protection agencies and closing policy loopholes.

The new policies were designed "to stem illegal immigration and facilitate the detection, apprehension, detention and removal of aliens who have no lawful basis to enter or remain in the United States," said a document titled "Implementing the President's Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements Policies." BAGHDAD -- At least seven people were killed and 12 wounded on Tuesday in a car bomb explosion at a crowded street in western Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, a police source told Xinhua.

The attack occurred in the evening when a booby-trapped car detonated at the Amal-Shaabi thoroughfare in the predominantly Sunni neighborhood of Ameriyah in western Baghdad, the source said on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Car bomb)

DAMASCUS -- At least 11 civilians were killed by shelling from Turkish forces against Syria's northern city of al-Bab, reported the state news agency SANA on Tuesday.

DAMASCUS -- The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) entered Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour for the first time on Tuesday to fight the Islamic State (IS) group, the Saudi-funded Alarabiya TV reported.

There is no immediate explanation for the sudden attack on IS positions in the oil-rich Deir al-Zour, but reports emerging said that the SDF succeeded to take control over the villages of Fatasheh, Master and Kassar, within the administrative borders of Dier al-Zour. (Syria-IS-Kurdish forces)

WARSAW -- Poland's border guard is planning to build 13 new observation towers along the eastern border of the country, also the external border of the European Union, Polish Border Guard Commander-in-Chief Marek Lapinski said on Tuesday.

According to Polish Press Agency, the towers will be equipped with high-tech thermal imaging, optical and monitoring systems, enabling the guards to monitor the border around the clock. (Poland-Border) Endi
