Eusebio renews Real Sociedad contract

Xinhua, February 21, 2017 Adjust font size:

Real Sociedad have confirmed that coach Eusebio Sacristan has signed a new contract to remain at the club until the end of June 2019.

The agreement sees Eusebio extend his previous agreement, which was due to expire at the end of June 2018, by a further year as a result of the excellent season the club from the city of San Sebastian is enjoying.

Eusebio replaced David Moyes midway through the 2015-16 season with Real Sociedad battling to avoid relegation and this season they are currently fifth in the Liga Santander, four points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid and with options to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Their campaign had led to Eusebio (a former FC Barcelona player and Barcelona B-team coach) being mentioned as a possible replacement for under-pressure Barca boss Luis Enrique at the end of the current campaign, but his new contract now rules him out of the running should Enrique leave Barcelona.
