1st LD-Writethru: Nobel laureate, Turing Award winner become Chinese citizens

Nobel laureate Chen Ning Yang and Turing Award-winning computer scientist Andrew Chi-Chih Yao have given up their foreign citizenship and become Chinese citizens, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced Tuesday.
The two scientists were hired as foreign academicians of the CAS and have become full academicians in accordance with the academy's regulations.
Yang has joined the Division of Mathematics and Physics and Yao has joined the Division of Information Technical Sciences.
The CAS now has 754 full academicians and 78 foreign academicians.
Yang and Tsung-dao Lee received the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics for their work on parity nonconservation of weak interaction. Yao received the Turing Award, the most prestigious award in computer science, in 2000.
Since 2014, the CAS has stipulated and revised regulations on the selection of academicians to improve the national think tank. Endi
