OCA president speaks highly of Sapporo's organization of winter Asiad

Xinhua, February 21, 2017 Adjust font size:

Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah on Tuesday spoke highly of Sapporo's organization of the eighth Asian Winter Games, especially the budget control.

The president told a press conference here that Sapporo fully utilized the legacy of 1972 Winter Olympic Games and built no new facilities.

And to reduce the costs, there is no athlete's village, as all the athletes live in hotels, he added.

Sheikh Ahmad also said it is possible for Oceania athletes to compete at 2022 Asian Games.

Athletes from Australia and New Zealand are currently participating on a "guest" basis at the Asian Winter Games.

"We are willing to put it into our agenda to see future participation," Sheikh Ahmad said. Endit
