-- Fuel transporters in Zambia have called off their strike after a meeting with a minister who has assured them that their grievances will be addressed.
Fuel transporters downed tools on Wednesday in a move aimed at pressing for a larger share of business after complaining that foreign transporters had taken over the business. (Times of Zambia)
-- A top Zambian official said the government has made headways in amending a marriage law in order to stiffen it to curb child marriages.
Minister of Gender Victoria Kalima said the high number of child and teenage pregnancies and forced marriages has forced the government to start reviewing the Marriage Act, adding that her ministry was currently finalizing the bill which will soon be presented to parliament. (Daily Nation)
-- An opposition leader in Zambia who has been in the forefront calling for investigations into the purchase of maize by Malawi from Zambia said the burning of offices for the Malawian agriculture minister and his permanent secretary was a well-orchestrated scheme to destroy evidence in the maize scandal.
Savior Chishimba, who has already appeared to give testimony before a Malawian committee tasked to probe the allegations of corruption in the maize deal, said the fire that gutted the Malawian agriculture ministry on Tuesday was a desperate act of sabotage meant to destroy evidence. (The Mast) Endit
