Cavani closer to Ibrahimovic on PSG's European socring list

A goal in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg against Barcelona, the 30-year-old Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani was just one short of leader Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Paris Saint-Germain's all-time European scoring list, according to the club's website.

Cavani, who spent his birthday on Tuesday in style, netted his 19th Champions League goal for Paris Saint-Germain in the 72nd minute at the Parc des Princes, handing a 4-0 humiliating defeat for Barca.

Currently ranked second on the list, Cavani was one goal behind the Swede, who transferred to the Manchester United during the offseason.

Angel Di Maria, who was also born on the Valentine's Day 29 years ago, moved up to the 7th position with a brace against the La Liga giants. With seven goals in total, he was levelling with Ezequiel Lavezzi and Pedro Miguel Pauleta.

Also on Tuesday, PSG's midfielder Blaise Matuidi played his 48th Champions League match, tying Bernard Lama in the third place on the club's all-time list. Endit
