A China-funded military automobile repair shop was inaugurated here on Wednesday after a two-year construction.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo jointly unveiled the garage at the No. 99 Trucking Battalion on the outskirts of Phnom Penh.
Well-equipped with the latest technology, the 500-square-meter garage is crucial to maintain and repair transportation vehicles for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), said Gen. Tea Banh.
"This is a new testament to the fruitful relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China," he said.
The deputy prime minister also extended his profound gratitude to the government and people of China for having supported Cambodia in all circumstances.
"The government and people of Cambodia will keep in mind forever the great support of China to Cambodia for socio-economic development," Gen. Tea Banh said.
At the request of Cambodia, during a visit to Cambodia in May 2014, Xu Qiliang, vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission, agreed to help build the garage for the RCAF, said Xiong.
"This is a new achievement born from the friendly relations and cooperation between the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the RCAF," he said.
"The garage will increase the capacity of maintenance and repairs for military cars."
He said the garage also contributed to further deepening friendly relations and cooperation between the two armies. Endit
