Hamas militant dies in tunnel in southern Gaza

A member of the Hamas movement's armed wing was killed Monday inside a tunnel underneath southern Gaza Strip, the group and medics confirmed.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, said that a Palestinian man was killed in a tunnel underneath the eastern part of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis.

Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' armed wing, said in a short text message that Ahmed al-Braim is a member of the group and that he died carrying out a special military mission. The group did not elaborate.

Dozens of men have been killed in the past few years underneath tunnels that militant groups, mainly from the Hamas movement, use to store weapons or wage attacks from Gaza into Israel. Endit
