The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Sunday.
--The International Red Control Organization for Central and Southern Africa (IRL-CSA) has started ground motorized spraying against the African migratory locusts that have invaded a vast plains of the Kafue River and threatening to invade maize fields.
IRL-CSA director Moses Okhoba said the spraying started a week ago, adding that the Kafue Flats in central Zambia has 10 locusts per square meter which could be a national disaster if not tackled. (Zambia Daily Mail)
--Zambian President Edgar Lungu says he will personally ensure that he protects the girl child from early marriages because that was the only way to success for the country.
Lungu said his administration has prioritized the protection and education of the girl child and warned that parents marrying off them at a tender age will be jailed as the government intends to stiffen the law.(Times of Zambia)
--Zambia's envoys in the 2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) started the campaign on an unconvincing note when they were held to a barren draw by visiting Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR) of Rwanda on Saturday.
