Striker for Ugandan national team joins Austrian club on loan

Xinhua, February 10, 2017 Adjust font size:

The striker for Uganda's national football team Edrisa Lubega has joined Austria's Floridsdorfer Athletiksport Club, his manager Mujib Kasule told Xinhua in an interview on Thursday.

Kasule said that Lubega will be on a six month loan from local team Proline FC.

He said Lubega's contract could be extended if he impresses in the competitive league.

With the move, Lubega becomes the second Ugandan player to feature in Austria after former national skipper Ibrahim Sekajja, who played for Austrian champions Red Bulls Salzburg from 2007 until he moved to the U.S. four years ago.

The other Ugandan players featured in Europe include: Farouk Miya (playing in Belgium), William Kizito Luwagga, Alex Kakuba, and Patrick Edema (playing in Portugal). Endit
