Spanish bank gains 84.5-pct stake of Portuguese bank BPI

Spain's CaixaBank has gained 84.5 percent of share capital in Portugal's bank BPI for a total investment of 644.5 million euros (689 million U.S. dollars).

CaixaBank purchased 39 percent of the share capital of BPI, by offering 1.134 euros per share, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Portugal's stock market regulator CMVN.

CaixaBank already had 45.5-percent stake of BPI in its hand. Enditem
