Amounts of deposits, loans in Bulgaria grow at end of 2016

The amounts of deposits and loans in Bulgaria increased year-on-year at the end of December 2016, the Bulgarian National Bank said Wednesday.

The total amount of deposits of sectors non-financial corporations, and households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISH) was about 64.75 billion BGN (34.96 billion U.S. dollars), up by 6.5 percent year on year, preliminary data showed.

Meanwhile, the number of deposits of the two sectors was around 11.02 million BGN, down 3.1 percent over the same period of the previous year.

Deposits in non-financial corporations amounted to 19.37 billion BGN, rising by 6.3 percent on an annual basis.

The amount of loans granted to households and NPISH increased by 2 percent reaching 18.51 billion BGN, while the number of these loans decreased by 0.5 percent and stood at 2.60 million, the Bulgarian National Bank said. Enditem
