French stocks lose Tuesday

French shares dropped on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 23.61 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 4,754.47 points.

Only 17 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

Mobile phone maker Nokia advanced 2.66 percent, becoming the biggest bluechip winner.

Klepierre, a French real estate investment trust and a major mall operator, gained 2.59 percent.

French banking giant BNP Paribas tumbled 4.77 percent, the biggest bluechip loser of the day, after the bank posted lower-than-expected net profits in its fourth quarter.

Oil and gas firm Technipfmc lost 3.12 percent, and another bank Societe Generale was down 2.5 percent. Endit
