China treasury bond futures open lower Tuesday

Xinhua, February 7, 2017 Adjust font size:

China's five-year treasury bond futures opened lower on Tuesday, with the contract for settlement in March opening 0.22 percent lower at 98.63 yuan (14.38 U.S. dollars).

The contract for settlement in June opened 0.1 percent lower at 97.345 yuan. The September contract saw no trading at the opening.

The contracts are agreements to buy or sell treasury bonds at a predetermined price and set date. They allow investors to bet on and profit from the movements in the value of the bonds.

The treasury bond futures were launched at the Shanghai-based China Financial Futures Exchange and started trading on Sept. 6, 2013. Enditem
