The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Saturday.

-- Civic authorities in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, plan to introduce a law that will make the indiscriminate throwing of waste a crime in order to keep the city clean.

Wilson Kalumba, the mayor of the city said the authorities will soon introduce the law to deal with the irresponsible behavior of littering as well as the introduction of a mandatory waste management fee. (Times of Zambia)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu is on Monday expected to travel to neighboring Botswana for a two-day State visit.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba said while in Botswana, Lungu and his host Seretse Ian Khama are expected to inspect progress of the construction of the Kazungula Bridge, a joint project between the two countries and also hold bilateral talks. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia's telecommunication and technology regulator has commenced the process of unmasking private mobile phone numbers as a result of the alarming number of complaints from consumers that users of private numbers were abusing the privilege.

Hanford Chaaba, information officer at the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA) said the authority had a high number of complaints from consumers being harassed and abused by people using private mobile numbers hence the move to deactivate them. (Daily Nation.

-- Fifteen golfers from foreign countries have registered for the 2017 Zambia Sugar Golf tournament, the prestigious golf tournament in Zambia.
