The Moroccan King Mohammed VI and President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit vowed on Thursday to consolidate strong relations between their countries, the daily Le Matin reported on Friday.

The two leaders expressed determination to develop mutually advantageous and wealth generating South-South cooperation, Le Matin said, citing a joint statement issued when the Moroccan king finished his two-day visit to South Sudan on Thursday.

Agreements and memorandums of understanding in vital fields, such as agriculture, energy, industry, investment, mining, hydrocarbons and vocational training, were signed between the two countries, it added.

According to the statement, Morocco expressed commitment to its contribution to consolidating stability and peace-building in South Sudan.

The Moroccan king assured Salva Kiir of his country's readiness to share experience with South Sudan in the areas of security, economic and social development.

The king also praised a recent call by President Kiir for a national dialogue, saying it is a bold move in achieving African Union's goal of ending all wars in the continent by 2020.

For his part, Salva Kiir congratulated King Mohammed VI on Morocco's reintegration into the African Union, and highlighted Morocco's effective role in the development, unity and stability of Africa. Endit
