One person wounded in shooting at Tallinn hotel

Xinhua, February 3, 2017 Adjust font size:

A 45-year-old man was wounded when an unidentified shooter opened fire at a hotel in downtown Tallinn on Thursday afternoon, the local law enforcement authorities informed.

Shortly before 2 p.m. a rescue service was alerted to shooting going on inside the Hotel Merito on Roseni Street, police representatives said.

The shots were fired from a gun-like object, injuring the 45 year-old man in his leg. The man was taken to hospital, but his life was not in danger.

The suspected shooter, a bald man in his 50s, managed to get away from the scene and still remains at large.

Two other men are also being sought in connection with the shooting incident, police said.

Police reinforcements were called to the scene and investigators scoured the hotel and the area to search for evidence that would help catch the shooter. No arrests have been made in the case as yet.

Veiko Randlaine, a representative of the Northern police prefecture, said the hunt for the shooting suspect and his accomplices was ongoing.

"It is believed at the moment that there might be tree suspects. There is no reason to think that they might be dangerous to other people," the police representative said. He added that the shooter and his victim probably knew each other. Endit
