Australian Telco Telstra suffers yet another service outage

Xinhua, February 2, 2017 Adjust font size:

Despite being listed as Australia's most valuable company by an international survey just days ago, Telstra has now suffered another embarrassing service outage on Thursday.

"A fire at the Chatswood Exchange in Sydney this afternoon has been contained, but damage has been caused to some power infrastructure," Telstra said in a statement.

"As a result a number customers are experiencing loss of service. Our technicians are currently completing a full assessment of the impact. We will provide more information as soon as it is available."

Today's failure will be the eighth service outage in just 12 months, coming after the Telecommunications giant redirected 250 million Australian dollars (191 million US) in 2016 to strengthen the network's infrastructure.

The blackout has also caused chaos at airports across the country as customers with digital boarding passes were unable to check-in on their phones.

Many infuriated customers have taken to social media to voice their frustration with the network. Endit
