-- Opposition leaders on Tuesday announced the formation of a new coalition, the National Super Alliance, and named a committee to coordinate its operations. They also announced that they had reserved the name of the alliance pending its registration as a new political outfit. (The Standard)

-- The electoral agency has appealed to Kenyans to turn out in large numbers and register to vote, even as it moved to ensure those affected by drought are enlisted. The commission's target was an upper limit of six million and lower of four million but figures released Tuesday showed only 1.5 million Kenyans have registration by the second week of the month-long exercise.
