Two crushed to death under train wheels in Bangladesh

Two people were crushed to death under the wheels of two separate trains in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Sunday morning.

A Dhaka Metropolitan Police Official told Xinhua that a woman was hit by an intercity train when she was crossing the rail lines at around 9:00 a.m. local time Sunday in Dhaka.

The victim succumb to her injuries later at a hospital, said the official who did not like to be named.

The official said another man was also crushed under another train in the city while he was walking on the rail lines at about 8:00 a.m. local time Sunday.

The man died on the spot, he added.

Bangladesh has one of the highest fatality rates in train accidents and to address the safety problem is a serious concern for the country.

There are many unmanned level crossing along the Bangladesh Railway across the country, where most tracks of the railway are in a dilapidated condition, which often cause accidents. Endit
